The families of young people lost after a devastating fire at a establishment in a Switzerland's winter destination are facing an painful wait for official news and pleading for information about their loved ones publicly.

The inferno devastated the a popular bar in the alpine resort, located in the mountains of the Valais region, in the middle of the night of January 1st. Circulated footage show the ceiling being engulfed in flames as beverages with fireworks are held aloft.

Officials have indicated that it could take considerable time to identify the victims of the fire, which resulted in the death of four dozen individuals and hurt another 119. A spokesperson noted on Friday that the majority of the those hurt have been accounted for, with work still underway to locate the other six.

In the meantime, loved ones have been using social media to appeal for clues about their missing relatives who were at the bar that fateful night.

Appeals for the Unaccounted For

The location of Swiss national Arthur Brodard, 16, are not yet determined, according to an appeal from his family.

The resident of Lutry near Lausanne, told a local newspaper that she had gone back to the city to check whether he was in the hospital, while his father did the same in Bern, but was unsuccessful.

"This is a living nightmare, an ordeal. The options are finding my son in the morgue, or I find him in a serious state. It's terrible," she stated.

She continued that some of his friends had been discovered with injuries covering a significant portion of their bodies. "It's unspeakable; they went through an absolute nightmare."

The Italy's foreign ministry has indicated that six of its nationals are still unaccounted for.

Included in that group is Emanuele Galeppini, a teenage junior golfer, originally from Italy but now residing in the UAE.

The national sporting body has said that he is deceased, without mentioning the tragedy, paying tribute to a "young athlete who embodied dedication and authentic values."

His father, told media that his son was at the bar and was last heard from around midnight. An representative has stated that a formal confirmation of his death is not yet.

Further Missing Individuals

Giovanni Tamburi, sixteen, is also unaccounted for. His mother said that he had been on vacation but had ventured out with a group and found himself at the venue.

"Someone with him said they ran away after the fire started and that he had his phone with him, but then at a specific moment he they were separated," she said, adding he had been wearing a distinctive gold chain.

One of his educators stated, "I remember his kindness and positive demeanor, combined with great maturity. He would frequently ask if help out."

Alice Kallergis, who holds dual Swiss and Greek nationality but lives full-time in Switzerland, was also at the bar on that night, according to reports.

Her sibling has posted an appeal online, saying the relatives has had "no news" regarding the 15-year-old or the three friends she was with, who are also unaccounted for.

Officials from her other nation say they are actively engaged with the developments.
