Aryna Sabalenka concluded the tour with an notable 23-3 Grand Slam match record.

The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been chosen the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second straight year.

The 27-year-old won four titles – the highest tally on the circuit – including retaining the US Open in September against Amanda Anisimova to secure her fourth Grand Slam singles championship.

A Season of Consistency

Over the course of the tour, Sabalenka competed in a circuit-leading nine championship matches, with defeats coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in the French Open final.

The star player also triumphed at the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open in May. She remained the entire year as the world number one, finishing 2025 on top of the rankings for a second straight year.

This past summer, she achieved the status of being the first player to top 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.

Record-Breaking Statistics

Sabalenka ended the season with a sixty-three to twelve win-loss record, and picked up a record £11m in prize money.

She earned almost eighty percent of the votes cast by global tennis journalists.

On 28 December, she is set to play 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match in a bid to "elevate women's tennis to a higher level".

  • Returning Star of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, twenty-eight, was voted after taking extended hiatus following the arrival of her daughter and making her comeback to the sport earlier this season.
  • Newcomer of the Year: Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko was honored with the award after beginning the season ranked beyond the world's top 300 and rising to the eighteenth spot.
  • Partnership of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend earned the title after capturing their second Grand Slam title together.
  • Most Improved Player of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after making five finals.

Recently, Carlos Alcaraz won three awards in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, including the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was voted the fan favorite for a third consecutive time.
